With Jon Lester leading the way on the mound and David Ortiz leading the way offensively, the Red Sox are one win away from being crowned World Series champs.
After the game, the dominant duo spoke to reporters, and although the left-hander’s adorable son stole some of their thunder, Ortiz spoke candidly about his incredible performance at the plate — once again.
When asked about the last time he can remember feeling this locked in, Ortiz simply stated, “I did it like 20 times this year. I was born for this.”
Lester agreed with his teammate’s succinct statement, adding his own two cents on the magnitude of Big Papi’s presence on the field and in the clubhouse.
“I haven’t played with many superstars,” Lester said after the game, “but this guy right here is the epitome of a superstar and a good teammate.”
