David Ortiz traded lumber for metal during batting practice Sunday, and he put on quite the display.

Messing around with an aluminum bat on an off day in Tampa Bay, Ortiz put eight consecutive BP pitches into the Tropicana Field seats, according to The Associated Press. Big Papi won’t be able to use his new toy Monday night, but the classic, wooden version has suited him just fine thus far in the postseason.

Ortiz has gone 3-for-8 with a double, two home runs and four runs scored as the Red Sox have taken a 2-0 lead in the best-of-five American League division series. They can punch their ticket to the ALCS with a win Monday night at the Trop.
