David Price had an interesting Saturday night that extended beyond his struggles at Fenway Park.
Price was lit up for seven runs over seven innings in the Rays’ Game 2 loss to the Red Sox. Tampa Bay now trails the American League Division Series 2-0. Given the circumstances, it was one of the worst outings of Price’s career. Despite such a poor outing, Price wants you to remember that it’s just one outing in a career filled with accomplishments.
The 28-year-old has a decorated resume, and he wasn’t afraid to tell everyone that as Saturday night turned into Sunday morning. Just hours after taking that Game 2 loss, Price was on Twitter responding to some critics.
It came off a little odd to say the least. This is how it started.

See? Price is going to be OK, because he’s won some individual regular-season awards. Those are what matter. Those are what get you to Cooperstown. And apparently those are what are going to get Tampa Bay back into this series? Well, maybe not, because this rant is apparently all about David Price and how he’ll respond.
Price also took some heat Saturday night because of his issue with David Ortiz‘s home run trot — after giving up two home runs to the Red Sox designated hitter.

Someone brought up Price’s pending free agency as well. The pitcher, who is almost certainly going to leave Tampa for greener (like money) pastures, then retweeted this tweet from a fan.

It seemed like it should have ended there. It felt like it was going to end there. However, the Oakland-Detroit game eventually ended, and that led to the TBS postgame coverage. During that postgame show, former pitcher-turned-analyst Dirk Hayhurst and baseball writer Tom Verducci called out Price for his performance. Naturally, Price jumped at the opportunity to belittle them.
