It may not be the bushiest, but David Ross‘ beard is one of the most fascinating in the Red Sox’ stable of facial hair.
As it turns out, one of the admirers of Ross’ gray scruff is umpire Dale Scott, who had several conversations with the catcher about his beard as the two worked behind the plate during Game 5 of the ALCS on Thursday.
At 36, Ross is one of the elder statesmen on this Red Sox squad, and he told Scott that his old-man beard doesn’t do much to hide his age.
“I’ve got fans calling me coach,” he joked.
