Bryant had a heated exchange with Witten on the sidelines just after the Lions scored the game-winning touchdown, forcing Ware to get in between the two playmakers and pull Bryant aside to cool the receiver down. Ware spoke highly of Braynt, but he said the confrontation was “heated” and even criticized Bryant for the poor timing of the interaction, according to the Dallas Star-Telegram.
“To get respect, you’ve got to give respect to others,” Ware said. “Me and Dez, we’re really close to each other, and he’s a great dude, a great player. Sometimes things get heated on the sideline because we’re competitors. He’s a great competitor. There’s a time and place for everything. Everything is behind us now, and it’s on to the Vikings.”
Ware went onto explain that he was trying to refocus Bryant’s attention on the situation at hand, since there was still time left on the clock and the Cowboys’ offense was going to get one more crack — albeit a Hail Mary of sorts– at scoring.
“There’s always a time and place – 12 seconds left in the game, knowing how important you are in the game; that’s not the place,” Ware said. “There’s always a time to approach the situation and approach it the right way. . . . The thing is, you’ve got to carry things a certain way, do things a certain way. Twelve seconds left in the game, you got an opportunity to win. You go at it as such.”
Bryant is clearly a fiery player with lots of passion for the game, but he might be best served to take heed of Ware’s words and follow the veteran captain’s lead on this one.
