The names of some members of the college football playoff committee were released on Friday. Among them was a surprise entry: former United States Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice.
Rice has never served on any football committee in the past or had any real involvement in the sport in anyway, which led many to wonder why she was selected for the committee in the first place. Former All-American defensive end and current ESPN college football analyst David Pollack took that line of questioning to the next level on Saturday, all but saying that women don’t have a place in college football.
When asked about his thoughts on the committee and members like Rice during a segment on College Gameday on Saturday, Pollack said he wanted people who know football, which sparked host Chris Fowler to ask if he meant that women didn’t belong. Pollack agreed to the leading question after a slight hesitation, simply saying “yeah.”
