For one night, the Celtics shed their green tank tops and shorts for suits at the annual Shamrock Gala. Jeff Green, Avery Bradley, Kelly Olynyk and others mixed and mingled at the event, which raised more than $800,000 for area children’s charities at the gala Thursday at the Intercontinental Hotel.
“This gala dinner is always a wonderful event to help welcome the start of a new season,” Celtics co-owner and Shamrock Foundation president Stephen Pagliuca said in a statement. “Each year, I am always impressed by the generosity of Celtics fans, and [Thursday] we not only were able to help some incredible organizations, but we had a great evening enjoyed by our players, coaches, legends and fans.”
The Celtics are in the middle of a busy week and a half. Following the gala, they open the regular season Wednesday in Toronto and unveil a statue of Bill Russell at City Hall Plaza on Friday.
