The New York Jets are one of the surprise teams of the NFL season with a 3-2 record and just a game behind the New England Patriots for first place in the AFC East.
Maintaining their early success became more difficult on Friday when the league announced that starting tight end Kellen Winslow has been suspended four games because he violated the league’s policy on performance-enhancing drugs.
This is Winslow’s first season in New York, and he’s quickly emerged as one of rookie quarterback Geno Smith‘s most reliable targets with a team-leading 17 receptions through five games. His two touchdown catches are tied for the most on the team.
The former sixth overall draft pick will be eligible to return for the Jets’ matchup against the Buffalo Bills on Nov. 17.
