Lionel Messi Replaces Decrepit Building With Soccer Field for Kids in New Samsung Galaxy Commercial (Video)

The good people at Samsung want to remind you that Lionel Messi is one sports’ leading humanitarians.

The electronics company released a new commercial featuring the soccer superstar this week, and it’s a little strange.

A well-dressed, unidentified man is seen walking through a poor neighborhood. He uses an array of Samsung Galaxy products (specifically the Note 3), as kids appear and start singing Lorde’s “Royals.”

Eventually, we realize he is buying a decrepit building — only to knock it down and build a soccer field. This excites the kids, of course, but they feel real joy when they find out that the mystery man is Messi.

Much of Messi’s charity work centers around helping impoverished children around the world access better health care and education than they otherwise would. Maybe building soccer fields will become part of his real-life philanthropic efforts.
