There are very few things that will never get old, and this is certainly one of them.

The Tampa Bay Lightning became the latest professional sports team to orchestrate a surprise return for a member of the military, and the latest unexpected visit is just as good as all of the ones that came before it.

The Lightning appeared to be honoring Marine Capt. Matthew Lunn‘s family at a recent game against the Pittsburgh Penguins. The Marine, serving in his 19th year, was supposedly in Afghanistan, and his family was honored with the in-game “Standing Salute.” The ceremony usually recognizes a soldier, but this version instead recognized Lunn’s family.

As part of the recognition, the family was treated to a video message from Lunn who said he was currently serving in Afghanistan as he passed along his greetings for his family.

“I love you guys, I miss you, and I’ll see you soon,” he said as part of the video.

As the video ended, Lunn was introduced inside the arena and came walking out  to surprise his family, which included a big hug for one of his two sons and his wife.
