Matt Duchene has been one of the NHL’s best players in the early part of the season with six goals and three assists in nine games entering the Colorado Avalanche’s matchup against the Carolina Hurricanes on Friday night.

The former third overall draft pick scored his seventh goal of the year after doing a nifty spin move behind the net to get the puck on his forehand. It was an exquisite piece of skill from one of the league’s most talented young centers.

The 22-year-old was invited to Team Canada’s Olympic training camp prior to the NHL’s preseason, and he’s certainly making a case to earn a roster spot for the Sochi Olympics with his fantastic start to the regular season.

Check out his fantastic goal against the Hurricanes in the video below.
