Chicago’s Big Ten team has officially been endorsed by the greatest basketball player of all time.

The Northwestern football team takes on Ohio State on Saturday in a battle of unbeaten Big Ten teams, and the Chicago Bulls showed their solidarity with the Evanston, Ill., program by putting a purple Northwestern football jersey on a statue of Michael Jordan outside the United Center.

Saturday will be a big stage for the No.16 Wildcats against the No.3-ranked Buckeyes — the game will be broadcast in prime time on ABC, and Northwestern will also host the crew of ESPN’s College Gameday for the first time in school history. ESPN’s Mike & Mike radio show will broadcast Friday morning from Northwestern’s campus.

Northwestern’s football program has quietly been climbing the ranks of college football over the last few years and last year won its first bowl game since the 1940s.
