Mike Green Draws Inspiration From Torii Hunter, Flips Over Boards Headfirst After Missing Check (GIF)

“Pulling a Torii Hunter” is gaining some traction in the NHL.

Washington Capitals defenseman Mike Green must have been watching the Red Sox game on Sunday night because he did a mighty fine impression of the Tigers outfielder spilling over the fence. Green was attempting to lay a check on an Edmonton Oiler, but instead of a hit, he ended the play with a very creative line change.

Jesse Joensuu slyly stepped back from the hip check that was coming his way, and Green flipped over the boards headfirst, making his teammates scatter, but providing one of the most entertaining off-ice plays of the season.
