lester1The Boston Red Sox are one more win away from their first trip to the World Series since 2007.

The Sox defeated the Tigers 4-3 in an exciting Game 5 of the ALCS in Detroit on Thursday night. They will now travel back to Fenway Park for the conclusion of the series over the weekend.

Boston’s offense was ignited when Mike Napoli blasted a home run that traveled 460 feet over the center field wall for the first run of the game in the second inning. The Sox added two more runs in the second frame, then took a 4-0 lead in the third inning when Napoli scored on a wild pitch.

Detroit made it interesting with a run in the fifth, sixth and seventh innings, but the Red Sox bullpen pitched a scoreless two innings to end the game.

Game 6 will be on Saturday at Fenway Park.
