The University of Florida just added a pretty remarkable player to their roster for the 2014-15 season.

Zach Hodskins was born without the lower half of his left arm, and on Saturday, the 6-foot-4, 200-pound high school senior from Milton, Ga., verbally committed to Florida as a preferred walk-on.

“It’s always been my dream growing up,” Hodskins said. “I never expected it to be like this, but the hard work has paid off. I’m ecstatic I’m going to be a Florida Gator.”

Hodskins had been gaining attention for his abilities on the court on the prep basketball circuit, and after fielding offers from multiple schools — including the University of Kentucky, according to ESPN’s Jeff Goodman — the one-handed basketball star eventually decided on joining Billy Donovan‘s squad.

“I’m coming on as a preferred walk-on, but I’ll be treated like every other player,” Hodskins said. “If I work hard, Coach Donovan told me I’ll have a chance to play.”
