If it feels like the Alex Rodriguez hearing is being dragged out, well, that’s because it is.
Fredric Horowitz, the arbitrator in the Rodriguez case, is too busy to continue the proceedings next week, according to ESPN.com’s Wallace Matthews.
When quitting time came Friday afternoon, Rodriguez’s attorneys were in the midst of cross-examining Tony Bosch, the former owner of the Miami anti-aging clinic Biogenesis, which Major League Baseball says distributed performance-enhancing drugs to several players.
The report states that the case will be halted until the week of Oct. 14 but likely will not resume officially until at least Oct. 15.
In addition, the source in the report says another lawsuit is coming from the Rodriguez team. After Rodriguez’s camp filed a tortious interference lawsuit against Major League Baseball on Thursday, and a medical malpractice suit against Yankees team physician Chris Ahmad on Friday, the source says Rodriguez will be suing the Yankees for “conspiring with Major League Baseball” to get the 38-year-old not only off the team but also out of baseball.
Rodriguez was initially suspended 211 games Aug. 5 before his appeal pushed proceedings into the offseason.
