The New York Islanders are making moves.

On Sunday, the Isles landed Thomas Vanek in a trade that sends Matt Moulson, a first-round pick in 2014 and a second-round pick in 2015 to Buffalo, reports Newsday’s Arthur Staple.

Vanek was drafted 15th overall by Buffalo in 2003. In 598 career NHL games, he has 254 goals and 243 assists for 497 points. The 29-year-old Austrian has four goals and five assists in 13 games this season.

Moulson, 29, was also drafted in 2003 and has 124 goals and 109 helpers in 333 career NHL games.

Last week, Vanek (along with goalie Ryan Miller) was rumored to be going to Edmonton in a trade with the Oilers that would have sent Nail Yakupov to Buffalo.
