Rob Ninkovich Growing ‘Ninko Beard,’ Not Red Sox Beard, but Congratulates Boston on World Series Win

Rob NinkovichRob Ninkovich was one of the Patriots players spotted this fall taking in a Red Sox World Series game at Fenway Park. With the defender’s impressive beard, he looks like he could fit right in with the Sox.

Ninkovich grows the beard every winter, though. He was not inspired by the Sox.

“I’ve been doing this for a couple years now, guys,” Ninkovich said. “This is not a Boston Red Sox beard. This is a Ninko beard. I’ve been doing this for like, three years. We’ll see how many of those guys shave them off because they’re not — I’m sure [Jacoby] Ellsbury‘s taking his off.”

Despite some of their inferior beard-growing skills, Ninkovich was cheering on the hometown team.

“Congrats to those guys,” Ninkovich said. “When you’re a little kid, you’re thinking about playing in the Super Bowl or the World Series. When you get to that point and you win it, it’s got to be pretty special. I’m still trying to get to mine in the Super Bowl.”

The last two times Boston won the World Series, the Patriots went on to the Super Bowl. We’ll see if that trend continues this February.
