After Dustin Pedroia and Jonny Gomes came within inches of knocking a couple of homers out of Fenway Park, Shane Victorino finally made it happen.

The right fielder came up to the plate with the bases loaded, one out, and he absolutely crushed a Jose Veras curveball over the Green Monster to give the Red Sox the lead, 5-2. The Flyin’ Hawaiian certainly flew around the bases after his clutch hit, pounding his chest and jumping into the arms of his teammates as he made his way back into the Boston dugout.

Victorino’s grand slam proved to be the difference, as the Red Sox bullpen combined to shut down the Tigers through the final two innings. Koji Uehara finished off Detroit in the top of the ninth, and with the final out secured, the celebration commenced.

The Cardinals will come to town on Wednesday, with Game 1 slated for 8:07  p.m. EST.
