Baseball announcers have a tendency to get a little goofy during midseason blowouts, but you don’t usually see it happen when teams are playing for a trip to the World Series.
The Tigers built a seven-run lead early in Game 4 of the American League Championship Series on Wednesday, and although the Red Sox eventually rallied back to make a game of it, FOX commentators Joe Buck and Tim McCarver decided to go off the rails a bit.
The late innings of Game 4, which Detroit went on to win 7-3, included a cake (Wednesday was McCarver’s 72nd birthday), an odd discussion — complete with graphics — about golf etiquette and an uncomfortable high five shared between the two broadcasters.
