It’s always an event when Joe Thornton returns to Boston, which is exactly what the former Bruins center did Thursday night as a member of the San Jose Sharks.
Everyone knows Thornton’s story at this point, as the big forward was drafted by the Bruins as the No. 1 overall pick back in the 1997 NHL entry draft. It didn’t take him long to make an impact before he was eventually traded to San Jose.
That ’97 draft class was a solid one with plenty of those draft picks still making a difference in the NHL.
