A young Cleveland Cavaliers fan was not afraid to give superstar point guard Kyrie Irving a difficult question about his future on Wednesday.
The boy asked Irving “are you going to leave us like LeBron [James] left us?” After acknowledging that it was a good question, Irving gave the response that everyone in attendance wanted to hear.
“Um, no, I won’t leave, I’m not leaving,” he said.
Of course, the fan is referring to James’ embarrassing exit from Cleveland after the 2009-10 season that was highlighted by an ESPN program named “The Decision” in which he announced his free-agent destination to a national television audience.
Since leaving the Cavs, James has won two NBA championships with the Miami Heat alongside superstar teammates Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh. The four-time NBA MVP can become a free agent in the summer of 2014 if he exercises the early-termination option in his contract.
There’s actually some speculation that he could return to Cleveland.
