Andorran Soccer Goalkeeper Ivan Perianez Scores From 90 Yards Out, Surprises Cameraman, Opposing ‘Keeper (Video)

Andorran soccer rarely gives the soccer world something to talk about, but Ivan Perianez is trying to change that.

Perianez, a 35-year-old goalkeeper for Andorran soccer club UE Santa Coloma, scored a long-range goal last Sunday. Santa Coloma’s wild, 3-3 draw with San Julia would have probably gone unnoticed outside of the landlocked principality were it not for Perianez’s goal.

Perianez’s decision to shoot seemed to surprise both the opposing goalkeeper and the cameraman. The ball traveled from the edge of Perianez’s area straight into the San Julia goal — roughly 90 yards away — but viewers don’t see its entire flight path.

Premier League goalkeepers Tim Howard and Asmir Begovic scored in January 2012 and November 2013 respectively. Perianez’s goal was impressively unique, as he scored without the help of a fortunate bounce.
