Brad Stevens and the Celtics have no interest in tanking, thank you very much.
After an 0-4 start, the Celtics have made it clear that they do not intend to simply sleepwalk through this season en route to a top draft pick. Encouraged by their close loss in Memphis, the Celtics have since reeled off four straight wins to get back to .500 and earn a share of first place in the Atlantic Division.
Yes, the Celtics are in first place. It’s shocking but true.
The reasons for the Celtics’ quick turnaround include Stevens and Jeff Green, the headliners on this rebuilding squad, but they don’t end there. Jordan Crawford has been a revelation, Avery Bradley is flourishing back at the two-guard spot and veterans like Gerald Wallace are buying into reserve roles. The names and faces may be less familiar than in years past, but these Celtics have been fun to watch.
