Rahim MooreThe Patriots aren’t the only ones with secondary problems. The Denver Broncos had to place starting safety Rahim Moore on short-term injured reserve on Tuesday, but they also added a veteran to their secondary to help fill the void.

The Broncos signed safety Michael Huff on Tuesday, the team announced. The former first-round pick signed a multi-year deal with the Ravens during the offseason, but he he was released after just seven games with the team, starting just one game and recording six tackles.

Huff, 30, spent seven seasons with the Oakland Raiders, who drafted him seventh overall in 2006, totalling 438 tackles and 11 interceptions during his Raiders career. He was selected as a second-team All-Pro safety in the 2010 season.

The Broncos have been without veteran cornerback Champ Bailey, who has missed eight games with a foot injury, for much of the season. His absence has put an added strain on the secondary, as Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie has had to assume the role as the team’s No. 1 cornerback and both Chris Harris and rookie Kayvon Webster have been forced to take on larger roles than they were expected.

Veteran safety Mike Adams will likely slide over to start alongside second-year safety Duke Ihenacho over the top of the secondary on Sunday night against the Patriots. Huff will likely provide depth and insurance, in case either struggles.
