Andrew Shaw was an important part of the Chicago Blackhawks team that won the Stanley Cup last season, and he’s carried that success into the 2013-14 campaign with 11 points in 18 games.
On Monday, the 22-year-old forward and the team agreed to a two-year contract extension that will keep him in Chicago through the 2015-16 season. TSN’s Bob McKenzie reported the terms of the contract.

Shaw’s entry-level deal, which pays him a base salary of $577,500, will expire at the end of this season. The former fifth-round pick has been a key bottom-six forward in his time with the Blackhawks as a player who plays a physical game, provides scoring depth and kills penalties.
Blackhawks general manager Stan Bowman has been busy re-signing members of his Stanley Cup core since the end of last year. In addition to Shaw, forward Bryan Bickell, defenseman Niklas Hjalmarsson and starting goaltender Corey Crawford have all received new contract extensions since June.
