It didn’t come until the third month of the season, but Claude Giroux finally found the back of the net.
The Flyers captain certainly felt the pressure to light the lamp, struggling through a 15-game goal drought — the longest single-season drought of his career — as Philadelphia limped out to a 4-10-1 start to the season.
Giroux finally put an end to the scoring dry spell, however, netting his first goal of the season against the Edmonton Oilers during the third period, leading his team to a much-needed win. Taking the puck from blue line to blue line, Giroux hustled down the left wing, made a nifty move to the center of the ice and fired the puck past Devan Dubnyk.
To make the emphatic goal even sweeter, the winger’s wrist shot ended up being the game-winner as the Flyers topped Edmonton, 4-2.
