The Red Sox’ 2013 World Series championship was built on three things: Blood, sweat and beards. Not every member of the team was on-board with the facial hair movement, though.

Closer Koji Uehara never really jumped on the beard bandwagon, and we may now have an idea of why. The official Red Sox World Series film was released by MLB Productions on Tuesday, and Uehara let his true feelings be known near the very end of the film.

As the credits of the film roll, the Sox rank each others’ beards (Mike Napoli came away as the clear favorite), but when Uehara was asked who on the team had the best beard, his response was an unexpected one.

“I think it’s just nasty to grow a beard that long,” he said via subtitles.

Check out the video below to hear the Red Sox talk about their beards.
