David MurphyKen Rosenthal and Jon Heyman may have just found their new hangouts for go-to sources.

Those two weren’t responsible for breaking the news that David Murphy was finalizing a two-year deal with Cleveland, though, as the credit goes to an unusual source — Murphy’s daughter and her daycare.

Reportedly, the longtime Rangers outfielder’s signing was leaked by the daycare after his daughter told her teacher’s that her dad was joining the Tribe. A source at the daycare sent Jamie Kelly, who goes by @JamieSportsTalk on Twitter, a direct message informing her of the rumor and she was then credited for breaking the news that turned out to be factual, according to Richard Durrett of ESPNDallas.com.

“He said that Murphy’s daughter at daycare was telling all the teachers that her daddy was going to be an Indian,” Kelly said. “They asked Murphy when he picked her up and he confirmed it.”

Kelly writes for a Rangers fan site and the Mavericks team site, in addition to being the editorial chief at Paranoid App, a social app for sports fans.

“I like David Murphy and it means a lot getting the scoop,” Kelly said. “Once I put it out there, it was confirmed.”

Murphy’s daughter clearly earned some extra credit this week, but let’s hope it’s transferable to Ohio as Murphy inked a two-year, $12 million deal with the Indians late Tuesday night.
