World Series Cardinals Red Sox BaseballAll good things must come to an end and all great beards must eventually be trimmed.

The Red Sox set out on their championship parade Saturday morning and while postseason heroes David Ortiz and Shane Victorino are focused on celebrating with millions of fans, come Monday the two bearded sluggers will be fresh-faced and cleanly shaven.

Ortiz and Victorino have partnered with Gillette to shear their whiskers Monday morning. The two veterans are the first players from the 2013 championship team to commit to a clean cheek — while Jarrod Saltalamacchia plans on keeping his beard for the long term, others are sure to follow Ortiz and Victorino’s footsteps.

Also joining Ortiz and Victorino will be the unexpectedly famous Steve Horgan, the Boston Police officer who drew national headlines when he was caught celebrating Ortiz’s ALCS Game 2 grand slam. Horgan will sacrifice his beard alongside the two players at Gillette’s World Shaving Headquarters in South Boston.

One lucky fan will be chosen to go up on stage with Ortiz, Victorino and Horgan and have their fan-grown beard clipped into a shape more suitable for the offseason. Neither Gillette nor the Red Sox have announced how this fan will be chosen, but a pre-All-Star break beard is an absolute requirement.
