Eric GagneIt’s been a while since Eric Gagne pitched in Los Angeles, but the Quebec native still has some Southwestern roots in the form of a Paradise Valley, Ariz., home he is now putting on the market for a $2.695 million short sale.

The home has a view of the nearby Mummy Mountain and is said to be like a resort with all its perks, according to realtor.com. That includes the sports star staples of a home theater, exercise room, pool, spa, fire pit and gated driveway with a four-car garage. The family home has four bedrooms and four bathrooms, with 6,000 total square feet of living space on the 1.08-acre plot.

Gagne’s most successful Major League Baseball days came when he was pitching out west, where he was a three-time All-Star and won the Cy Young in 2003. Converted from a starter to a reliever for the Dodgers, he was a shutdown closer between 2002 and 2004, when he racked up 152 saves. Gagne, however, was later named in the Mitchell Report, and he admitted in a book he wrote last year that he and as much as 80 percent of his Dodgers teammates used performance-enhancing drugs.

Gagne also has a World Series on his resume, and that’s thanks to the Red Sox, who scooped him up at the trade deadline in 2007. The Sox hoped Gagne would bolster the back of their bullpen, but he was underwhelming in his opportunities, including a shaky relief appearance in the American League Championship Series when he opened the gates on a seven-run inning that led to Boston’s Game 2 loss. The Red Sox bounced back, though, and ended up winning it all that year.

The Paradise Valley home is not the only house Gagne has rid himself of in Arizona — he also sold a Scottsdale property for a loss earlier this year, according to realtor.com. Perhaps he’s looking to relocate up north for good, although it would be a shame for him to part with this very stylish home, which has two versions of his jersey hanging in (what everyone hopes is) his son’s room.
