According to the AP, the 28-year-old Hurd, who faced the possibility of life in prison, “received the punishment in a federal courtroom in Dallas after pleading guilty in April to one count of trying to buy and distribute large amounts of cocaine and marijuana. The charge carried a minimum 10-year sentence.”

Rebecca Lopez of Dallas-based television station WFAA reports that Hurd asked the judge for a second chance, a request that was denied.
