Houston Texans head coach Gary Kubiak suffered a mini-stroke while walking off the field at halftime of his team’s Week 9 game against the Indianapolis Colts.
After taking one week off to rest and recover, the 52-year-old is expected to return to the sidelines on Sunday when Houston hosts the Oakland Raiders at Reliant Stadium.
“It’s great to be back on the field and getting back to work,” Kubiak told reporters on Wednesday. “I feel great today, I don’t foresee any issues [with coaching on Sunday].”
The Texans are entering a crucial point in the season with a 2-7 record, which puts them in third place in the AFC South division. There’s still a slim chance of Houston making the playoffs, and for that goal to be reached, the team probably needs to win all seven of its remaining games and get some help in the form of other Wild Card hopefuls struggling in the final weeks.
