Keep that frustration to yourself after your team loses by 24 points, Gerald Wallace, or it will cost you.
The NBA sent a message Wednesday that it would not tolerate naughty words by fining Wallace $10,000 for his “profane language” following the Celtics’ 109-85 loss to the Rockets on Tuesday. Wallace wore his heart on his sleeve, as he usually does, after the Celtics were dressed down in Houston.
“I don’t know what the [expletive] tonight was, just to be honest with you,” Wallace told reporters after the game. “I don’t really know what was going on.”
The Celtics (4-8) needed more than five minutes of game action to score their first basket on Tuesday, falling behind 18-1 after tipoff and trailing 40-18 at the end of the first quarter. They were behind by as many as 35 points before the Rockets let off the gas in garbage time, allowing the Celtics to close the deficit to 24 points.
Jared Sullinger also received a flopping warning for exaggerating contact while muscling with Dwight Howard for position in the post.
