John Axford Turns Off Car Left Running, Pens Another Clever Note in Attempted Good Deed (Photo)

That John Axford is one swell guy.

The Cardinals pitcher stumbled upon a car that was left running for too long on Tuesday afternoon so he took it upon himself to craft a witty note, turn off the vehicle and lock it up, taking the keys inside to the nearest business.

While his intentions were honorable and Mother Nature would certainly give him a fist bump for his actions, the owner of the car wasn’t amused as he came walking out right when Axford was leaving the message.

Although the right-hander went above and beyond the call of duty — even giving the car a hug after locking it — Axford kept his sign that the owner clearly didn’t appreciate, meaning it is now the second best note he has ever penned. Unfortunately there aren’t any cliches in this one and he didn’t sign off with “love” featuring a heart for the “o.”

Never change, John Axford.

Check out the note in the photo below.
