Scoring on your own team is typically very embarrassing, but James Young‘s accidental toss into the Kentucky basket was actually impressive.

After a blocked shot, the freshman guard raced after the ball as it was bouncing out of bounds, and did well to save it, but his no-look toss back onto the court found the bottom of the Wildcats’ basket instead of a teammate’s hands.

Young received a standing ovation from the fans at Rupp Arena, and even head coach John Calipari couldn’t resist a smile. The outcome of the play wasn’t ideal, but you’ve got to respect the hustle Young showed in trying to save the ball.
