Leafs’ Nazem Kadri Ejected For Illegal Hit to the Head in Loss To Wild (Video)

Toronto Maple Leafs forward Nazem Kadri didn’t win over any hockey fans in Minnesota on Wednesday night after hitting two players in the head, the second of which earned him an ejection.

The young center ran over Wild goaltender Niklas Backstrom in the first period, making contact with the veteran’s head and earning a minor penalty for goalie interference.

Then in the third period, Kadri delivered a dangerous elbow to the head of Wild center Mikael Granlund. He received a match penalty and was tossed from the contest. It wouldn’t be surprising if the former first-round pick was given a suspension from the NHL’s Department of Player Safety for the hit on Granlund, which was a reckless play in a situation where a legal check could have easily been made.
