Matt Harvey, David Wright Join Teammates in Painfully Awkward Holiday Music Video (Video)

The New York Mets could learn a few things from Buddy the Elf about getting in the Christmas spirit.

The team recently released an awesomely awkward holiday video that features plenty of Mets players singing the holiday classic, “Sleigh Bells.” The video itself is only 54 seconds, but the cringe-worthy moments seem endless.

Although Matt Harvey gets things rolling with a surprisingly good voice and infielder Justin Turner shows he’s as jolly as they come, things go downhill quickly in true Mets fashion. Left fielder Lucas Duda set a new record for maintaining the lowest enthusiasm ever while singing a happy song, but Travis d’Arnaud wins the video as the catcher looks like a sad kid who just learned that Santa wasn’t real.

David Wright brings it home with some genuine sincerity, but even Mariah Carey couldn’t have saved the song at that point.

Good job, good effort, Mets.
