Miguel Cabrera‘s first language isn’t English, but he doesn’t need words to describe his feelings.

The recently crowned repeat winner of the AL MVP award tweeted and retweeted several pictures of himself with former Tigers first baseman Prince Fielder on Thursday. None of the pictures had any words or captions accompanying them, but they still spoke volumes.

Fielder, of course, was traded to the Texas Rangers on Wednesday night in a deal that sent perennial All-Star second baseman Ian Kinsler to Detroit. While Kinsler is one of the nicest guys in the game, he doesn’t quite provide the protection batting behind Cabrera that Fielder did. Cabrera was also heavily invested in the recruitment of Fielder to Detroit, and the two had become close friends.

Because of those circumstances, it’s understandable that Cabrera would be upset or disappointed in the move by the Tigers. If those are his feelings, though, he hasn’t said so. In fact, the only words that have come from Cabrera’s mouth seem to be well wishes.

For readers whose Spanish lessons were long forgotten after high school graduation, a friendly Google translation explains that Cabrera’s tweet roughly translates to: “Remembering a good friend. [I wish] all the world to him on his new team. To remember is to live! What unforgettable moments, my brother.”

Aww, Miguel.

Cabrera won back-to-back MVP awards with Fielder’s protection, and the Tigers even won the American League pennant in 2012 before losing to San Francisco in the World Series. For what it’s worth, Fielder also had only two extra-base hits in 101 postseason at-bats with the club. So there’s that.

Cabrera also retweeted Mario Impemba, Detroit’s play-by-play voice for FOX Sports Detroit, who said, “Victor [Martinez]’s strong second half last year may have made this deal easier to make. #Tigers still have some ‘protection’ behind Cabrera.”

Looks like Cabrera has decided to move forward. Check out the pictures he personally tweeted below.
