Meet Tanner Glass, owner of a titanium jaw.

The Penguins and Predators squared off on Friday night in Pittsburgh, and while Pittsburgh’s big guns of Evgeni Malkin, recently returned James Neal and Sidney Crosby all made their mark on the scoresheet to give their team a 4-1 lead before the end of the second period, tough guy Tanner Glass wasn’t content to sit this one out.

Nashville enforcer Eric Nystrom challenged Glass to a fight in an attempt to fire his own team up during the third period, and the scrappy Glass more than happily accepted the offer.

Nystrom landed the first few punches, stinging Glass, before the Pittsburgh fighter regained his balance, upended Nystrom’s helmet and then landed a punch square to the back of Nystrom’s unprotected head. Down he went in a unanimous decision for Glass.

Nystrom appeared shaken up after the fight and would not return to the game. To his credit, Glass attempted to stop his opponent’s fall to the ice and showed concern for his dancing partner, glancing back at the fallen player all the way to the penalty box.
