Vikings cornerback A.J. Jefferson didn’t finish Sunday’s tie with the Green Bay Packers, and it appears he won’t finish the season in Minnesota either.
Jefferson, 25, was arrested early on Monday morning on a domestic assault complaint, according to the Minneapolis Star Tribune. The team then quickly decided to release the four-year veteran after his arrest, according to USA Today’s Tom Pelisserio.
Jefferson, who went undrafted out of Fresno State in 2010, was in his second season with the Vikings. He played in 10 of the Vikings’ 11 games this season but was used sparingly in the secondary, managing just five tackles and one interception on the year. He was a consistent contributor on special teams.
Jefferson was the second Vikings player to be arrested in the last month. Wide receiver Jerome Simpson, who leads the team in receiving, was arrested and charged with DWI on Nov. 9.
