Team USA Goalie for Winter World University Games Sports Patriotic Goalie Mask Featuring Uncle Sam, Jim Craig (Photo)

Athletes can never go wrong with patriotic uniform accents, but one college hockey goalie has taken his mask design to a new level.

Minot State University goalie Wyatt Waselenchuk has the honor of wearing one of airbrush artist David Leroux‘s most pro-USA mask designs ever when he dons his helmet for the Winter World University Games in December. The design features stars, stripes and Uncle Sam, along with a depiction of Jim Craig, goaltender for the 1980 U.S. Olympic Team.

There are even some bald eagle silhouettes thrown in for good measure.

Waselenchuk will take a short break from netminding for Minot State to get between the pipes for U.S. Men’s National University Team in the Winter World University Games. Team USA will feature other players from the American Collegiate Hockey Association, the governing body for non-varsity college ice hockey.
