Tom Brady‘s epic comeback over Peyton Manning and the Broncos on Sunday night was everything NFL fans could have wanted and then some. Now, Brady is being properly recognized for that effort.
Brady was named the AFC’s Offensive Player of the Week on Wednesday for the first time this season. He won the award three times during the 2012 season, and this marks the 24th time in his career that Brady has taken the honor.
After the Patriots fell behind 24-0 at halftime, Brady rallied New England to a historic comeback. He completed 34 of his 50 passes, throwing for 344 yards and three touchdowns on the evening to clinch the Patriots’ 34-31 overtime win. The performance ranks as his second best this season, falling short of the 432-yard, four-touchdown game he enjoyed in a win over the Steelers in Week 9.
Sunday’s win was the 39th time Brady has led a fourth-quarter comeback in his career, including the playoffs. It’s also the third time he’s led the Patriots to a late-game comeback this season, with wins over the Bills in Week 1 and the Saints in Week 6 counting as the others.
After a rough start to the season, Brady has enjoyed a resurgence over the last three games, completing 70 percent of his passes, averaging 357 passing yards per game and tossing eight touchdowns compared to just one interception in that span. The Patriots are now 8-3 on the season and look to have the AFC East all but locked up as they head for the home stretch over the final five weeks.
