Torey Krug entered Thursday’s game against the Columbus Blue Jackets with six goals on the season, which ties him for the NHL lead among defensemen with former Norris Trophy winner Erik Karlsson.
The 22-year-old Bruins defenseman is tied for third on the team in scoring with 11 points and has become a force on the power play with three goals. Two of the most impressive parts of Krug’s game are his poise with the puck and ability to start the rush with tremendous skating and puck-handling skill. He’s becoming an important part of the Boston blue line, and when the regular season concludes, he could be among the finalists for the NHL’s Caldery Trophy, which is the annual award given to the most outstanding rookie.
