People at the NFL offices in New York can’t be too happy about what happened in Toronto on Tuesday.

After months of speculation, Toronto mayor Rob FordĀ held a press conference to own up to allegations that he smoked crack last year. And, strangely enough, he did so while wearing an old school NFL tie.

Ford offered a statement and answered questions about his activity with the drug, noting that he smoked the substance while in a “drunken stupor.”Ā Ford also said during the presser that he won’t be stepping down from his post. He may not have a choice, though, as police investigate the incident, and Ford is up for re-election next year.

While all the cameras were zeroed in on the mayor’s every move, the throwback logos of the Redskins, Buccaneers, Colts and other NFL teamsĀ were in full view as well, which is strange as there is no NFL team in Canada.

The NFL does have a base in Toronto, however, as the Buffalo Bills have played one regular-season home game at the Rogers Centre over the past five seasons, and they’re slated to host the Atlanta Falcons there again this season in Week 13. If Toronto is hoping to land its own NFL franchise at some point, which has been rumored, then Ford’s decision on Tuesday is an interesting way to try to lure the PR-conscious NFL.

Check out a close-up of Ford’s tie and watch the mayor own up to his faults in the video and photo below.
