1384400980_tyler copyIf nothing else, Tyler Kennedy is becoming a certifiable professional in the art of road tripping.

The longtime Penguin joined San Jose over the summer, and while most of his new teammates were certainly accustomed to the grueling travel arrangements that come with being a West Coast team, the schedule came as a bit of a shock to the forward.

In the midst of their longest trip of the year, the Sharks got their five-game tour rolling with a 1,500-mile flight to Winnipeg on Sunday. From there they headed back toward Calgary, then even further west to visit the Canucks, and they followed that up with a stop in Edmonton. After taking on the Oilers, San Jose will make its way to Chicago before finally heading back home, racking up around 6,400 miles in eight days.

The Sharks will travel the most miles out of all the teams in the NHL this season, and although the expeditions aren’t all fun and games, Kennedy found a fun way to describe the hectic schedule.

“You change time zones like you change your underwear. It’s crazy. I can’t believe it,” Kennedy said. “It helps a lot when you have a nice plane, and the staff has been great. It’s been a little bit difficult, but everyone’s been really helping me out in trying to get used to it. It’s not that bad, but it’s the time change that kills you.”

That’s a lot of changing — we hope.
