William Stanback? More like “stand back.”
Terrible puns aside, the University of Central Florida put a hurting on Rutgers on Thursday night, and Stanback led the charge. The freshman running back accounted for just 30 yards in the 41-17 rout (six rushing, 24 receiving), but he delivered the hit of the day on Rutgers cornerback Anthony Cioffi.
Cioffi appeared to have Stanback bottled up near the sideline after the running back caught a ball in the flat early in the second quarter. But as he went in for the hit, the 5-foot-11, 205-pound Stanback lowered his shoulder and proceeded to bulldoze right over the helpless defender, picking up another 15 before he was finally wrestled out of bounds.
