CamNewtonThe Carolina Panthers’ defense is the best in the league, meaning Tom Brady‘s offense is likely in for a world of problems come Monday night.

But that doesn’t mean the Pats defense has it any easier, as the banged-up unit has to deal with one of the most dangerous offensive weapons in the league in Cam Newton.

Newton’s offense has averaged 28 points over their last five games (all wins), including four straight games of notching at least 30 points. The No. 1 overall pick in 2011 has completed 170 of 271 passes (62.7 percent) for 1,970 yards and 13 touchdowns this year and, while he has been picked eight times, he’s only been intercepted three times during the team’s current five-game winning streak.

The Panthers’ play-caller is getting it done on the ground, too, as he already has 24 rushing touchdowns in just 41 career NFL games.

Newton dominated the college ranks, leading Auburn to a national title and scooping up the Heisman trophy as a junior in 2010. While he was clearly an elite college quarterback, many argue whether he’s an elite NFL quarterback. What are your thoughts? Vote below.
