FOXBORO, Mass. — All eyes will be on Wes Welker when the Patriots take on the Broncos on Sunday night, but there’s another player on Denver that is likely causing some major headaches in New England this week.
The Patriots don’t have one player that excels against tight ends. Steve Gregory had been decent in that role this season and Duron Harmon did a nice job stopping Greg Olsen, but no one has forgotten how much trouble New England had against Tony Gonzalez when the team traveled to Atlanta.
That’s why Julius Thomas is the biggest mismatch on the Broncos’ roster. Devin McCourty will be needed to cover the deep half of the field and Aqib Talib will likely be matched up against Demaryius Thomas.
