The Virden Oil Capitals of the Manitoba Junior Hockey League set a high bar last week with their team video Christmas card, but the defending NHL champs may have them beat.

The Blackhawks sent their holiday cheer in the form of an infomercial for the “Chicago Blackhawks Magical Movie Collection,” which features Hawks players reenacting scenes from iconic movies with bad costumes and — usually — even worse acting.

Some highlights from the collection include:

Marian Hossa as Principal Rooney in Ferris Bueller’s Day Off.

Nick Leddy as Napoleon Dynamite.

Sheldon Brookbank as Charlie Conway (quack, quack, quack).

Brandon Bollig in Defiance (a movie the winger actually starred in as a child).

Corey Crawford‘s turn as a werewolf in Twilight.

Patrick Sharp as Batman.

Jonathan Toews as Wolverine (Two minutes for slashing. Ha!).

In all, 21 of the 24 players currently on the Blackhawks roster participated in the shoot — Johnny Oduya, injured goalie Nikolai Khabibulin and recent call-up Jason LaBarbera were the only no-shows.
